In the middle of a summer night, when the moon was high, Zipporah was told to go find her story. Set in the rural South, Zipporah's is a spirit, is attempting to tell her story. Finding out that she has none, Zipporah goes on a journey that focuses on discovering identity and meeting Moses, a spirit listener. She progresses through a series of events leading up to a revelation of her past. Moses is portrayed as a thoughtful, compassionate character weighed down by responsibility and family legacy. Through their interactions, the duo soon discover they need each other. Zipporah's journey from confusion and self-doubt to a gradual understanding of her past and identity. She realizes that everyone possesses a story, and understanding and sharing it is essential for wholeness. The novel explores themes of self-discovery, ancestry, and the importance of storytelling.
