From ancient Chinese foot binding to six-inch stiletto heels, women have sacrificed themselves to style - and have come to expect some pain in the process. This guide to women's foot care takes a decade-by-decade approach to foot care for women and explains what can be done to avoid foot pain and surgery in later life. Topics covered include an A-Z symptom-finder and how to prevent joint injury. The book features: comprehensive listings of foot conditions; tips for choosing stylish and foot-friendly shoes; simple exercises to stretch and strengthen the feet and ankles; ways to pamper feet; and customized foot-care regimes for every lifestyle.
This is a wonderful, useful book and I really recommend it for anyone -- even if your feet don't hurt yet! Much of what she concentrates on is describing conditions which can develop if you do not pay attention to them now and what you can do to avoid these problems later on. She is NOT someone who tells you never to wear heels -- but she does describe how to take care of your feet so you can minimize damage. A great book to have -- I am already putting a lot of her suggestions into action (new pads for my Jimmy Choos!) and doing foot exercises to strengthen my feet. Thanks Dr. Levine!
