Lines to which you should "Just Say No"

A book that says, "Here are lines young men use to get you to say 'yes'...so be prepared, ladies!" A very novel idea. Advice and real-life stories add to the message. That's the good news. The bad news is execution. (Sorry Sol, but that's why you lost a star.)Some lines have suggested responses, but most do not. I felt that the book needed either more responses (ex.:, "Well, you wouldn't *pressure* me if you loved me") or workbook-style space for preparing one's own responses (the point of the book, no?)Further, the lines are unnecessarily forced into categories (e.g., lines that refer to food, to music, or to sleep.) Also, the way the anecdotes and advice are scattered gives the book an uneven, disjointed tone. In short, it feels like the book was rushed from first draft (or worse, pre-draft notes) directly to the printing press without benefit of editing, organization or revision.The book is an extremely fast read at 82 pages including photos and mucho white space. The photos in my edition are of a very 1970's teenage couple. Modern teens might think, "How yesterday!" and write the book (and the message) off. There would be a pity.Bottom line: Great idea, but send it back to Bantam's Editing and Layout Departments. Still, the book could be a good tool if used as a basis for discussion. But don't just throw this book at your daughter and *hope* she absorbs the message on her own. Talk with her, for Pete's sake!!!
