Book Overview

In You Unstuck, Libby Gill uses cases studies, client stories from her coaching work, and brain research to help readers understand the biological basis of fears that hold them back. She shows how to reframe what she calls Riskophobia, turn off the fear voices, and circumvent ancient defense systems. Readers can then create an Escalating Risk Hierarchy by "chunking down" their vision into small, actionable steps, ordered from least to most...

The most helpful book I have ever read

This book is, by far, the most helpful book I have ever read. Libby writes in a kind way while pointing out the things we all do to get in the way of our happiness and successes in all aspects of our lives including career, relationships, health, and finances. She has a gift for cutting through the nonsense and excuses to get to the heart of the real issue. Libby identifies fear as one of the primary obstacles and provides examples and strategies to address the fear. She helps break down the action steps so that goals can be identified and achieved. This book will help you understand that life is a series of beginnings that are necessary to live your dreams, how to take action and start accomplishing your goals, the importance of asking for help from the right people, and the value of accountability. I am well on my way to a new career and a healthy lifestyle. I have recommended this book to everyone I know.

Great for Change Phobes

Libby Gill has done it again! She has done what she preaches. Plus she has great resources to back it up. The exercises helped crystalize my thinking and take "risky" action I avoided. Some books have tons of exercises that feel more like a chore--these were enlightening. I plan to suggest this book to anyone who tells me their "old story" more than five times.3 little words sum it up: Clarify, Simplify and Execute- easy as 1,2,3.

I bought 25 copies!

This book is such a rich, concise handbook for personal growth that I bought copies for employees who I felt could benefit from a guidebook for personal and lasting change. It is to-the-point but rich in real life experiences, easily understood and blunt without being harsh. It covers not only workplace issues but health, relationship and financial issues. This is an easy "how to get your life together" book than can really make a difference for people who want change now.

Exactly what I needed!

A friend of mine suggested this book, and it turned out to be exactly what I needed to read. It's funny, because I didn't really see myself as being "stuck" - I have a million projects going and I see myself as a bold risk taker! But after reading this book I realized that I was still holding on tightly to certain beliefs that were ensuring that my projects would only be moderately successful. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to turn their dreams into reality. It will help you clear the self imposed obstacles that you most likely don't even see.

A Refreshing Approach

I'm not really a fan of self-help books. Those that I've tried to read have seemed trite, condescending, unrealistic or downright boring. This book is none of those things. Well organized, each chapter builds upon the previous one, leading you effortlessly through the new material. Yes, there is a plan, a formula for discovering what is blocking you and how to overcome it, but it is also much more. Written in a conversational style with lots of real life examples and personal anecdotes, this book is as entertaining as it is informative. The content on stress, fear, and how the subconcious interprets situations is fascinating. Even if you are basically happy and don't feel stuck in a particular area of life, the many insights and simple wisdom presented here will be invaluable.
