Beautiful Story

Lady Catherine Lacy de Vere Fletcher is in need of a husband, a real husband to fulfill all her dreams and needs. First, however, she must see King Henry to grant her an annulment from her first husband, Baron Matthew Fletcher, whom she married at the age of four and hasn't seen since. Matthew Fletcher has struggled with his past and his ache to see his bride for fourteen years, but has never conquered one to quench the second. Now the captain of the King's guard, and Henry's most trusted friend, Matthew has the unfortunate duty of pacifying the gargantuan lady who seeks the king: his own wife. But when the king doesn't submit to Lacy's timetable, she leaves with her maid, only to be attacked while bathing. As luck and fate would have it, the handsome knight from Henry's court is there to save her, and to find that Lacy de Vere is really a lithesome blonde beauty. After Henry denies the annulment, the story really picks up, as Lacy helps Matthew come to terms with his past and they slowly, but surely, fall in love. I was stunned when I read this book, mostly because I had picked it up for a dollar, and it was actually a very, very good read. The story of Lacy and Matt is one of the best Medieval romances I've ever read, and I'm waiting for Pocket Books to do the smart thing and re-release this with a little more promo, so others can discover this wonderful tale.
