Swidler notes how Jesus' sayings were interpreted by His Jewish followers and how the full meaning of these sayings have sometimes been lost among Christians. This work is an instrument for further dialogue and understanding between Jews and Christians regarding their common history and teachings.Yeshua : A Model for Moderns is also a landmark and long overdue study of Jesus' love for and desire to include women in His ministry. Swidler supplies multiple biblical examples of Jesus' breaking of taboos in order to teach others about the equality of women and His desire to preach to them. Not only does Swidler provide these examples, but he also places them within the historical and cultural context in which they occured. This gives the reader a greater understanding of Jesus' radical and loving approach to women and His desire to teach others to follow His example.
