A good, organized introduction to writing

I am using this book with my eight year old in a homeschool setting. It is paced just right - not too challenging up front so she is not being "turned off" to writing, but on the contrary appears to enjoy the segments. Each lesson emphasizes a point about the writing craft, with exercises and a writing assignment at the end (so far usually a paragraph, which we write in a "writer's notebook"). She can complete a lesson, with writing assignment, in roughly thirty to forty minutes and there are just about enough lessons to cover a semester's worth of work.
