It was a glorious day when the Chicago Cubs won the World Series....a glorious day in 1908, to be precise. Since then, the Cubs-and their awesomely devoted fans-have eagerly awaited another taste of victory. Included among them is Kevin Kaduk, who, in a fit of heartfelt (and possibly insane) loyalty to the team quit his job as a sportswriter and moved back to the Windy City to find the heart and soul of what has come to be known as "Wrigleyville." In this rollicking exploration of baseball and blind faith, Kaduk weaves a riveting tale of the team that stole his heart-and the life of the neighborhood surrounding baseball's most historic ballpark.
As a White Sox Fan, who resides 8 blocks from the Wrigley "Shrine" and attends games there, this book is the ultimate read for anyone trying to figure out the 'Cub Fan Culture' surrounding the team, ballpark and neighborhood. I am local, so I could not put the book down.....Kevin Kaduk lives a Cub Fans' dream.....and the White Sox win the World Series that year!!!! IRONY....OR FATE????? This book is really a blast and an easy read....A Sox fan gives this 5 Stars!!!!! This will make the 10 or 11 folks in this country who have not been to a game at Wrigley want to come!!!!
Five Ice Cold Old Styles for 'Wrigleyworld'
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 19 years ago
Wrigleyworld paints a vivid picture of life in and around Wrigley Field. I didn't realize how vivid until I sat at my first game this season, throwing back an Old Style, surveying the field and remembering parts of his book. I'm a life-long Cubs fan and Kaduk was still able to teach me a little something about the team I love and its history.
Entertaining look at Wrigleyville and the Cubs

Kaduk did what so many of us dream of -- quitting our jobs and following our favorite team for a summer. And he did it in baseball's best neighborhood, which helps make this book entertaining and colorful. Lots of great anecdotes and insights into the whole Wrigleyville mystique. The book's a winner, even if the Cubs aren't.
There's no crying in baseball!!!!!!

I purchased this book to read a day in the life, or season, of being a Cub fan and living in Wrigleyville. As well as get fired up for the 06 season. Enjoyed the story, characters, tid bits of the neighborhood as well as the players and the game. More of a cultural piece of living the life of a hard core basball fan in a great neighborhood. Reminds me a little of "I am Charlotte Simmons" in its detail of post college life in Chicago and rooting for the Cubs. Enjoyable easy read.
Living the Dream!!

Growing up in Chicago, this book brought back memories of a wonderful childhood. It also made me very homesick. Kevin Kaduk did what we all wish we could do, tell our boss to stick it and live, eat, drink Cubs baseball in Wrigleyville for an entire season. Too bad the Cubs didn't cooperate. For all fans of baseball this is a must read. You don't have to be a Cubs fan or from Chicago, but it definitely makes it more entertaining.
