This book does a good job of illustrating the essential part wolves serve in our ecosystem. Dudley works hard to illustrate similarities between humans, wolves, and dogs so that children learn not to appreciate these stereotyped predators. Beautiful photographs help to present many different aspects of the life of a wolf. One drawback of the book, however, is it really focuses on gray wolves and should be updated to include the new reintroductions taking place for both red and gray wolves. The book does not cover the different species in good detail, using the gray wolf for 99% of pictures and examples.
