I picked this up in a hotel library, only to discover that I had already read it. However, I liked it so much that I reread it and enjoyed the second reading, too. A very British story of three sisters and the ups and downs of their relationships, with each other and with spouses, provides some wonderful insights into universal problems, while retaining a believable British flavor. The characters were so well-drawn that they almost leaped off the page and this reader felt as if she knew them well. A potential failing of a few too many coincidences was really negligible, as the ending tied up loose ends in a particularly satisfying way for all the key characters.
