Personally one of the best fantasy adventures ever!

Let's just say that this is one amazing fantasy adventure and can be compared to J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia!

A Truly Amazing Book Series

I really loved everything about this series! Below are some facts about the series, and some of my personal opinions. Then I have listed some pros and cons. This review has no spoilers. I hope this is helpful! FACTS: The Wingfeather Saga, by Andrew Peterson, is a series of four fantasy novels. The main characters are 12-year-old Janner Igiby, 11-year-old Kalmar Igiby (who goes by "Tink"), and 9-year-old Leeli Igiby. Though the series focuses on all of these characters, readers read from Janner's point of view most often. There is a good amount of violence, and the books, especially the later ones, are rather long. There is no bad language in this series. The Wingfeather Saga has Christian themes throughout, and has symbolic characters and events. Everyone who I have talked to about this series really likes it. On Amazon, the series has 4.8 stars, with thousands of reviews. OPINIONS: I feel like The Wingfeather Saga is suitable for children ten years and up to read independently, because the length and writing style might be too much for young readers. Also, there are some dramatic/intense/dark/scary parts, and they might be hard for younger kids to read by themselves. As an audiobook or family read-aloud, I feel like there really is no minimum age, children just need to be old enough to understand the basics of the plot, and to not be too bored by parts they don't understand. Above I mentioned that there was violence in the series, and there is, but I did not feel like the violence was too difficult to read or too scary. In fact, one thing I like about the series and its ideas and messages, is that there is not any unnecessary violence. The characters rarely, if ever, attack their enemies. It is their enemies that are attacking them, and they are protecting others with the violence. Even though the dark is dark, the light is brighter. I feel like this makes it easier to read the scary parts. Another theme that I liked was that the children's parents were there throughout the whole series. Unlike many other series, the kids don't go off and fight the bad guys by themselves, with the parents either ignorant of it or unable to do anything about it. No, in The Wingfeather Saga Janner's mother is with them almost all the time, helping and protecting them, which I feel is both realistic and a good message. This series had me in so much suspense while I was reading it. I really enjoyed The Wingfeather Saga, and I hope that anyone else reading this review will enjoy it too! PROS: -No bad language -Christian themes (which are a pro for me) -Good for a read-aloud -No unnecessary violence -Lots of suspense -Well-made, sturdy books (I have the hardcover set) CONS: -Later books are pretty long -Some violence -First book is a little slow in some parts -Lots of made up words, some might be hard to pronounce/read In conclusion, I hope this review has been helpful, and that anyone reading this will read these wonderful books. I have really enjoyed them, and I recommend them to everyone I know. Happy reading! Something to note: there is an animated series of The Wingfeather Saga on Angel Studios. While it is not the same experience as reading the Saga, it is fun to watch. I would recommend reading the books first.
