Book Overview

"Readers craving a witchy story full of found family, lush nature, and small-town secrets will find it utterly enchanting." --Hester Fox, author of The Witch of Willow Hall

Step into a world of hope, fate, and folk magic in this bewitching debut when a young woman travels to a sleepy southern town in the Appalachian Mountains to honor her best friend. Mel Smith's life is shattered after the sudden death of her best friend, Sarah Ross. In an effort to fulfill a final promise to Sarah and find herself again, Mel travels to an idyllic small town nestled in the Appalachian Mountains. But Morgan's Gap is more than she ever expected.

There are secrets that call to Mel, from a salvaged remedy book filled with the magic of simple mountain traditions to the connection she feels to the Ross homestead and the wilderness around it.

With every taste of sweet honey and tart blackberries, the wildwood twines further into Mel's broken heart. But a threat lingers in the woods--one that may have something to do with Sarah's untimely death and has now set its sights on Mel.

The wildwood is whispering. It has secrets to reveal--if you're willing to listen . . .

Whoa

I have no idea where to start. The thing I hate about this book is that it's not 500 pages longer! I can't even start a new book now bc nothings going to measure up to it right now. I was torn between wanting to finish it right away bc I couldn't put it down and making it last as long as possible. Mel is my hero! She was tough but not so much that she was untouchable. She longed to feel at home and safe. But knew she was perfectly capable of taking care of herself. Just wanted someone else to WANT to take care of her but unsure if she could accept that. Shd was a natural caretaker. Everyone needs a Mel! Granny was comforting and made it easy to be humble. Gave you a thirst for not only knowledge but also experience Lu was charismatic and accepting and Mel knew that right away. I felt safe and light when she was around. Jacob wasn't so easy to figure out at first but you can't NOT NEED... him to be all the right things. I just... need more of Mel. finishing the last page made me feel closure and abandoned at the same time. I finally understand book clubs now because I feel like I need someone who feels this book in their soul like I do. This book took me away to a world I don't know if I want to come back from. The way the author wrote made me feel the way I imagine Mel's dreams felt..I was there. I saw it with my own eyes.
