Real Tools for Healing

The Bible teaches that we are forgiven as we forgive others, and that it is to our glory to overlook offenses. Yet letting go and finding forgiveness in our own hearts isn't easy, even when we know it's right. Too many of us unwittingly become slaves to those who have hurt us. We wallow in our own anger and bitterness. Many times the anger and bitterness lead us to rash and unwise actions that only make the situation worse, such as filing lawsuits and seeking revenge. Pastor Lutzer gives us tools to rise above the hurt, above the anger, above the desire for retribution, tools to help us find real peace, genuine forgiveness and lasting wholeness. For me, as a practicing Christian attorney and author (The Believer's Guide to Legal Issues), I can only hope and pray that more people will read Pastor Lutzer's book before they decide to call me or any other lawyer!

This book was a major influence in my recovery from betrayal and freedom from bitterness. I was able to see that I could not be healed until forgiveness replaced unforgiveness. I will buy this book for loved ones and recommend it to all who have been "Wronged".

Erwin Lutzer always writes in a very easy to understand style. This book, like his others, is biblically based. "Moving from bitterness to forgiveness" is an apt subtitle because forgiveness is an act of the will, but also a continual process. I especially liked his explanation about the difference between forgiveness and reconciliation. He talks about the three different types of reconciliation that can occur following forgiveness. I bought copies of this book for family members. It is an excellent choice for anyone wanting to live free of bitterness.
