The Lost Lovers of Eldridge Mountain
As told by the elders of Cedar Ridge
Long before the town was settled, before roads carved paths through the pines and valleys, Eldridge Mountain stood alone-tall, silent, and sacred. The people of the land believed the mountain watched over the valley, a guardian of secrets, sorrow, and love.
Among the oldest of these secrets is the tale of two star-crossed souls: a young man named Kael and a woman named Elara, who came from warring clans. Their love bloomed in secret, in stolen moments at the mountain's base, where the trees whispered and the stream ran quiet. But when their families discovered the truth, anger flared like wildfire.
The people of Cedar Ridge leave offerings at the foot of Eldridge: lockets, dried roses, poems folded and tucked beneath stones. Not out of fear-but respect. For the Lost Lovers remind them that love, no matter how forbidden, leaves a mark even time and mountains cannot erase. And some believe... when the mountain finally moves, it won't be from thunder or quake-but from the lovers, finding one another at last.
