An Excellent continuation in the Witches of Dixie series

This is a continuation of the story of the four witches from "Dixie". The first book was a series of short stories. We were introduced to four women all going through different issues in their lives. One of the women was Savannah Monroe. She had concerns her business of making magical handbags was beginning to decline. In this book she is the leading character. Her business is thriving and she is becoming comfortable in her new life in a new city. The book begins with her receiving a "gift" from the faeries - a small kitten. For Savannah the kitten brings joy and happiness that is associated with young kittens. She gets another message that she should be open to love. At first Savannah is concerned that she isn't ready for a new relationship but puts it in the hands of the Goddess. She also learns about being an empath and gets a better understanding of emotions. Later in the book another woman is introduced. Noel becomes a neighbor and friend during a time when Savannah needs one the most. Ravena (makes organic catnip mice and herbal remedies) and Mirabella (an abstract artist) have smaller roles than they did in the first book. It is good to see where they are in their lives. I would have missed them if they hadn't included. It is very easy to relate to these women. Each one brings something different to the story. They are like most women. They worry about everyday things and wonder what tomorrow will bring. The book has a message of faith, hope and love. It is easy to read about these emotions but it is another thing to really feel them. I could feel the hope and faith Savannah had that she would find love and happiness. It is a wonderful book that makes you feel good about life.

Very enjoyable!

I really liked this book, I'm not going to go into the story line, I'm just going to say this was a good read. I would love to live in a neighborhood like these characters live in. I wanted this book to keep going for years, Laura stamps seems able to make everyday life an entertaining read. I can't wait to read the next installment! Keep it going Laura!

Fun and interesting read

"What Witches Want" is Book Two of Laura Stamps' "Witchery Series" -- I did not get read the first one, but this is fine as book two is a stand-alone story. I think it is nice to know that you can pick a book up and read it and understand it without having to track down the first one. "What Witches Want" is a unique read. It was written in present tense ("she walks to the door" instead of the usual "she walked to the door"), and it took me a couple pages to used to it. Actually this ended up being one of the things I enjoyed about the book because it was as if you were actually living the main character's, Savannah Monroe, life. In other words, you were Savannah. This is a very visual book. The adjectives and writing style are probably the most descriptive I have ever read. Along with the present tense writing, takes you from an interested onlooker to being Savannah. You see hear the birds singing, or can picture the color of the sky. Savannah's a Wiccan Faery Witch (the same as the writer). I have read other books where the character might be a witch, but it's more of a background thing. In "What Witches Want" there are spells, invocations/incantations, rituals sprinkled throughout the book. Pretty interesting for someone like me (I'm Catholic) who does not know much about the Wiccan faith. It goes right along with what's happening with Savannah or her friends and not just "stuck" in the book to fill spaces. Oh you get a recipe or herbal cure here and there too, which is sort of fun. You want a book with sex scenes that go on for pages and are outlandish, this isn't that kind of book. The sex scenes were tastefully done and believable. I really enjoyed getting to know Savannah and her friends. I did not go into a story line, because, well, it takes half of the fun out of reading the book.. All I will say is her cats are a real kick. You will get wrapped up in Savannah and her friends lives and just want to keep reading to find out what will go on next. It is an easy reading book and if you have time, you probably could read it in one sitting. It took me a week, but each time I picked it up was like reading a letter from an dear friend. I hope to be able to find book one at my library, or local used bookstore. I look forward to book 3 "Call of the Witches".

witches are people too

I found this book to be very entertaining as well as insightful. Laura Stamps made this story very informative of wiccan culture and relationships of women in general. I was also pleased with the author's true understanding of a cats personality, and the humor within. The story flows smoothly and kept me engrossed all the way through the book. I am looking forward to more books in this series.

I would love these friends!

What Witches Want: Book Two of the Witchery series (Witchery) I so want to move to the south so I can find friends like this! I loved this book. What a gift and a talent Ms. Stamp has! This book brings into focus 1 of the main characters from book one. While we visit with Savannah and get to know her better, we meet new neighbors and also old friends from Book 1. I really enjoyed reading more about Wicca, and seeing it help Savannah grow with her magick and self discovery. As with the first book there are spells, and even more fun loving kittys. My only complaint,(if you can call it that) is that it went so fast..haha It seemed like I just started reading, and falling for everyone again, and I was done the book. Now I just have to wait, on the edge of my seat, no less, for the next installment. Lucky for me that should be in October, and that's also the month of my birthday day. In closing, I feel blessed that I have been able to read these books, and to have found such a wonderful and talented author.
