She examined millions of negatives over a period of several years, selecting the best photographs for a major exhibition. The "Wedding" exhibition opened in 1976 at the Carpenter Center for Visual Arts at Harvard University, where it was an immediate success. Attendace was heavy, and the Harvard Crimson reported: "Wedding makes not only artistic statements, but social ones as well." The following year, the photographs moved to New York's International Center for Photography.
