A moving memoir from a key leader in Youth With a Mission and founder of Homes of Hope, who shares his personal journey of discovering his true calling and building homes for families in need around the world. "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me." - Matthew 25:35-40 Sean Lambert first joined Youth With a Mission (YWAM), the largest mission organization in the world, in 1979 after leaving college halfway through his freshman year. Young and na?ve, he moved to Thailand and worked with Cambodian refugees. As his team offered food and practical training to those in need, he learned how a little help can go a long way. He traveled throughout the world bringing help, healing, and sharing the saving message of Jesus. Later in May 1990, he traveled with his three-year-old daughter and a group of volunteers to Tijuana to build a single house for a Mexican family. As the group worked, Sean noticed another family nearby watching from an abandoned bus pitched on a hill. His young daughter began playing with the children living in the bus and later returned to the build site with a concerned look. "Daddy, are you going to build a house for the bus people too?" she asked. Moved by his daughter's plea, the organization to which he would subsequently dedicate his life was born-Homes of Hope. For the first time, Sean gives a behind-the-scenes account of how a small group of volunteers banding together to build a home twenty-five years ago has since blossomed into a global housing movement. He will also chronicle his inspiring journey of discovering his true calling and how he has humbly met the Lord's challenge to directly care for the poor. Sean shares the obstacles he has faced and the many lives he's changed along the way-a result of his generous heart and the numerous volunteers and staff members who also help make others' dreams possible.
