There was a time in my life, that I believed that every great book could make me laugh, cry and be packaged up into a pretty little package.
My hubby laughed at me, when I told him that we had found THE ONE cookbook and we could get rid of all the rest.
Then, he cried when I made: Breakfast Crepes! He had not had crepes, since he was a child. He loved to watch the batter be turned around and around, as they cooked.
There's a lot of great stuff in this cookbook. All kinds of Amish information, facts and stories. You get to learn, all about Amish Christmas Traditions. And, a lot of our family's favorite recipes, in someone else's book.
I probably will pitch, most of our other cookbooks and that will leave me having the last laugh.
And, I still believe.

Great for self or gift giving

I love cookbooks and the Amish Friends Christmas Cookbook by Wanda E. Brunstetter is wonderful. There are beautiful color pictures for many of the over 200 recipes that are from Amish and Mennonite cooks--their names are given with each recipe! Included at the back of the book are three indexes--one of the contributor's names, one listing recipes by section and the third lists the recipes by key ingredients. There are scripture verses and several short articles about Amish traditions around the Christmas holiday. The book is about 6"x 9" with a full-color heavy card stock type cover. It is a plastic spiral binding which is nice as it lies flat when using the book. There are seven main sections that include recipes for Beverages and Snacks, Breads and Rolls, Breakfast items, Main Dishes, and Salads and Sides. With my sweet tooth and my penchant for gift giving, the two sections I will be using first are the Sweet Things and Gifts from the Kitchen. Although entitled as a Christmas recipe book, the recipes are perfect for any time of the year. I'm looking forward to some family get-togethers where I can try out some of these recipes. The Amish Friends Christmas Cookbook is a great gift idea too.
