Dull, empty, lonely, alienated, confused, afraid, powerless, hopeless, aimless. Unfortunately, these words ring true in describing the lives of many people today. The material world has failed to produce love, joy, and peace, and as a result, people are turning to spirituality for an answer.
Walking on the Waves is a rich, compelling presentation of many key scenes in Jesus' ministry. From the opening chapter, the book draws the reader into many of the familiar stories of Jesus' life and allows us to see these happenings for ourselves 'up close and personal.' I particularly enjoyed the author's insertion of his own fictional actors into the scene. Each character then interprets what's taking place through their own experience or philosophical outlook. Through this mechanism, the author is able to compare and contrast many of today's modern schools of thought against what Jesus represents in his life and teachings. This book is a joy to read while at the same time it will make you think. Take my advice, read this one slowly and savor it. There's enough here that you'll want to re-read it once you finish. It's impossible to read this book and not come out with a fresh new appreciation for the incredible richness of who Jesus is and what he represents for today's post-modern world.
