Our family loves Betsy Duffey books! They are funny, well-written, feature friendships between boys and girls, and really capture kids' thinking. This installment in the adventures of Cody Michaels is no exception. For a school assignment, everyone is to find out how they got their (first) name. At first Cody happily imagines that he was named after Buffalo Bill Cody. He particularly clings to this idea when his computer rival, PJ, tells the class that she is named after a famous inventor and he feels the need to one-up her. Alas, Cody is devastated to find out he is named after his mother's beloved childhood dog, but in class he finds out that he's not the only one embarrassed by his name. Cody's teacher handles it all with compassion and wisdom, and the kids have a fun learning experience. Lots of fun.

I highly recommend this book because it is so funny, especially at the end, once you pick it up you cannot put it down, because you are anxious to find out where everybody's names came from. I also liked the computer faces that Cody made at the end of each chapter. :)
