If it's on the GRE verbal and analytical writing sections, it's in this book! Verbal Workout for the GRE, 4th Edition is completely updated for the August 2011 changes to the GRE. It includes: Nearly... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Definitely worth looking at! After receiving a low score, I also look at alternative books to the Kaplan. This book is clearly written and has easy to follow instruction (Whereas Kaplan may packs overwhelming notes into a single page). Some of its verbal strategies are not founded in Kaplan as well; that's what makes it worth reviewing. Although it lacks the opulence in vocabulary words, its strategies and examples are used in layman terms. The question remains, is it worth buying? Why not, it gives me alternative methods to approach the GRE which Kaplan did not. If I get stuck on a question, it gives me hasty solution to eliminate apparent wrong answer and to guess more intelligently rather than to guess blindly when I confronted an alien vocabulary. While this is a good book, I still utilize on Kaplan for its profusion on vocabulary skills and study methods.

After taking the GRE and not being satisfied with my verbal score, I turned to this book. I used it everyday for about five weeks and improved my score the next time around. Pay specific attention to the vocab, it's the key to doing well on the GRE.

This book was ok in preparation for the GRE. I appreciated the test taking strategies that I still use today. I'm sure that I would be more satisfied if I put more effort into the verbal section of the exam. I purchased the book for the Hit Parade, but I think the book would have been more useful if the list was longer. My piece of advice is to start verbal practice as early as you can and use the ETS CD-ROM.

This book is very good tool if u want to get well prepared for the rigorous verbal section of the Gre . It offers techniques on how to learn new words , how to handle the verbal sections and also has a 300-word hit list . I would have rated this book with a 5-star review if the word list was larger . Still ..a good value for your money
Very helpful
