We bought this for my niece and nephew, but had it lying around for a month... So we read it. There were some terrific stories in this anthology. Most included lessons of Kindness or Bravery. All featured a female protagonist. Well done!
Falls short of the claim to be empowering for women/girls if witches are evil, ugly, green and cackl

The girls in the story were inventive and resourceful, the men were stupid, ineffectual, and weak. Kings ruled, queens and mothers were passive. The illustrations were okay.
