Very interesting stuff, especially the Thomas Merton inclusion in Walking Water. After All This was good but not as excellent a story as Walking Water.

I was thoroughly captivated by these two novellas, especially 'Walking Water.' Nickels takes on the legalism of the Catholic Church in a fun (but profound) surreal way. This book was nominated for a Hugo Award in 1989. A good read.
