Celebrate the girl you loveFrom wobbly first steps to romping in the rain, this vibrant book captures the precious early years of a child's life and a parent's wish for her bright future. Styled as an adorable "album" of art and verse, this is a fresh new portrait of the most cherished years of childhood. "Tummy Girl" is a 2008 Bank Street - Best Children's Book of the Year.
We own a couple of Roseanne Thong books that my 22 month old daughter and I both love (Red is a Dragon and Round is a Mooncake), so I picked this one up when we came across it at the library last week. It is a hit with my daughter, and it is now my favorite baby book! It is sweet and adorable and fun to read, and it so beautifully portrays how much a parent cherishes every stage of her child's life. This book is basically a poem about a baby girl who goes through the various adorable stages of being a baby, toddler, and little girl. When I start reading the last verse that begins with "Soon you'll be an older girl..." I always have a lump in my throat because the prose is just so touching and makes me think of how quickly little ones change and grow from pot bellied babies to little independent people. This is a perfect book for reading to a little girl. I love it so much I'm planning on buying a copy to keep and a few to give as gifts to parents of girls.

I gave my two year old daughter this book for her birthday and it was an absolute hit. We read it at least once a week if not more. The story is sweet and the pictures are just beautiful.

As an elementary librarian, I have the opportunity to review many books each year. Tummy Girl is delightful. I bought an extra copy for my granddaughter as well as a copy for our school library. An endearing little picture book.

This charming book gives a sweet look at a baby girl and growing up. Delightful, unique artwork created with charcoal and pastels from the front to the back endpapers. The rhyming text is wonderfully bouncy and bubbly. A fun book to read together that will make little girls giggle and mommies and daddies smile. (At least this mommy did.)
