When an adult neighbor is brutally murdered during a high-school house party, everyone in school seems to have an idea who did it, but no one will go to the police. Jen was there and saw the body and she has her own ideas about who is responsible. As a reporter for the school TV show, she decides to try and uncover the truth and discover if a classmate's increasingly violent behavior is to blame. When she and others begin digging too deeply, violence flares in the small community. Finally, Jen is forced to take a stand, one that may cost her more than she could imagine.
This first novel by Tanya Lloyd Kyi will appeal to CSI/Law & Order fans. At 3 a.m., the police come to question Jen Forester. She was at Ian Klassen's party last night, and a man was found beaten to death there. She lies to the police that she didn't see anything, thinking the whole thing would blow over. But weeks later, she gathers clues and thinks she knows who did it. The problem is that everyone knows who did it, but no one wants to tell and get in trouble. This is a good mystery/suspense book, and anyone who watches crime shows should read it. But I think the book should've been longer and had more details and information about the characters. But, all in all, this is a well-written mystery book.
