An excellent introduction to the study of Hebrew Scripture.

This is a hightly readable little book. While scholarly in its approach, it does not scare off the casual reader with an overabundance of footnotes, cross-references and untranslated original language quoatations. Rather, Professor Sanders takes the reader through from the definition of Torah to his final paragraph: "For Judaism Torah becam the living Talmud; for Christianity Torah became the living Christ . . . And Torah, in that basic sense, is the single foundation of both church and synagogue, two denominations in one Israel of God (Gal. 6:15)." The author's passion for his material is evident in his style of writing and carries the reader quickly through an overview of the Hebrew scriptures.
