When it's time to knit a new sweater, start at the TOP! The author of Saturday Sweaters is back with more comfy, cozy sweaters to create. Try on projects as you knit to make the bust, length, and... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I love the patterns in this book and like the size range. I started one sweater as soon as I got the book and can't wait to see how it turns out. Patterns are very nice and use a variety of yarns, also everything is not on size 15 needles, which I hate, these patterns are much more flattering.
Top of the Heap

Doreen Marquart has done it again! After a wonderful debut with Saturday Sweaters, here's another book full of practical, wearable, and KNITABLE garments with a nice range of choices for all skill levels. I work in a yarn store and we have sold our copies out twice and now have several staff members working on garments from the book. Doreen's explanations are clear, with plenty of explanations of techniques in the reference section. We particularly appreciate her excellent recommendations for specific yarn (with yardage) followed by practical yarn substitution guidelines, something that rarely appears in pattern books. This is a timeless keeper worth purchasing. Clear schematics give you an idea of where you're going, stitch charts are in HUGE type and very readable. Interesting knitting without fussiness. Check out the modular garter-stitch jacket and the turnaround vest...too many to list as standouts. Brava!

A great sweater book for all levels of knitters. Instructions that are clearly written, close up photos of the stitches knit on each sweater along with a modeled photo of the finished product. I'm ready to move on from scarves and purses... Top Down Sweaters guides me to a custom sweater with many varieties of style. The hardest part of the book is... which sweater to TOP DOWN knit first!!!
Another Great Book

Doreen Marquart has written another great knitting book. I have her first book "Saturday Sweaters" and love the patterns in that book. "Top Down Sweater" is filled with fun and creative designs. Both books contain many classic designs which can be knitted 30 years from now. Mrs. Marquart's books are written for knitters of all levels. One of my favorite patterns in "Top Down Sweaters" is the garter play cardigan. One can dress it up or down, depending on the occasion. I also found the sections titled "Techniques", "Assembly", and "Useful Information" very informative and helpful. As a knitter in her 50's, it is wonderful to find a book that contains patterns for all age groups.
