When Arthur Livingston arrives out of the blue at the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency, anxious to hire the agency to seek out a missing heiress, Eunice Holbrooke realizes her past has finally caught up with her.
Having fled from the scene of her grandfather's murder seven years before, Eunice is a lady with secrets--the most important that she is the missing heiress Arthur is seeking. She has no intention of allowing him to learn she's been disguising herself, especially when she has reason to believe Arthur could hold her responsible for her grandfather's death.
In order to avoid Arthur and conceal her real identity, Eunice takes on another case that requires her to go deep undercover. With secrets from the past--and Arthur--appearing wherever she looks, she wonders how she will ever uncover the truth behind her grandfather's murder. Will what she discovers set Eunice free or place her in peril's way?
I loved Eunice's story. I finally found out why she wore the thick black veils! I mean I read about her in two books as wearing full widows weeds and it was just killing me..Who would go through this much trouble to stay hidden and why?? As with all of Jen Turano books, I laughed at all the humourous situations Eunice gets into. I loved how Arthur is so relentless in his search for his missing person and how they each realize working together may change their view of each other. This is definitely one of my favorites in the Bleecker Street since I was so curious about the veils and Arthur turned out to be such a gallant suitor. Loved it..and highly reccomend it!!

A Great Read

To Disguise the Truth by Jen Turano is the third book in her Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency series. Eunice Holbrooke fled from the scene of her grandfather’s murder seven years ago. But the past has finally caught up with her. I think this was Ms. Turano’s best work yet! I loved this story. I was drawn in from the first page all the way to the end. I felt as though I was a part of the story. Eunice was such a unique character. I loved her personality and her ability to forgive. If I had been in her place, I’m not sure I would have been as forgiving. What a lesson!
