Roger Giroux was born in 1925 in Meximieux, near Lyon. He published one collection of poetry, L'arbre le temps, winner of the Prix Max Jacob, in 1964. In Paris he worked for the Serie noire and translated a number of English language poets and novelists, including W.B. Yeats. He published some smaller, fragmentary works in reviews during the 1970s. Several books and pamphlets collecting his work appeared following his death in 1974.
