In four hours, Shelby Jane Cooper will be struck by a car. Shortly after, she and her mother will leave the hospital and set out on a winding journey toward the Grand Canyon. All Shelby knows is that they're running from dangers only her mother understands. And the further they travel, the more Shelby questions everything about her past--and her current reality. Forced to take advantage of the kindness of unsuspecting travelers, Shelby grapples with what's real, what isn't, and who she can trust . . . if anybody. Award-winning author Nick Lake proves his skills as a master storyteller in this heart-pounding new novel. This emotionally charged thrill ride leads to a shocking ending that will have readers flipping back to the beginning. There Will Be Lies has a lot of moving parts to it but it's written and displayed in a way that makes total sense. It took me a year to track down the name of this book so I could read it again and it was well worth it. If you're interested in a book with high stakes but a relatable main character, this is your book.
Very good

First of all, I love the description. It’s weirdly vague so you have no clue what it’s actually about. And then when you start it, it’s so unexpected. This book is soooooo good. I cannot stress it enough. And I won’t spoil anything but I love the main character and the “minority” group she represents because you don’t see many of her people as lead characters.
