There was a coyote who swallowed a flea, Plucked from his knee, that tickly flea. Yippee-o-Ki-Yee Skinny ol' Coyote delights readers of all ages as he swallows his way through this delicious southwestern-flavored retelling of a well-loved rhyme. As Coyote gets bigger, the story gets zanier as a bird, a bull, and even an entire cactus end up as dinner. It's pure fun for everyone--even that little flea. Call him silly to swallow a chile Yippee-o-Ki-Yee
My son is almost two years old and this has been his favorite book for the past two months. He laughs every time I "pluck" the flea from his knee and makes it a point to fake burp at the end then ask for breakfast. I don't even get sick of it, because I know that he loves it so much!

A big fan of many of Jennifer Ward's books, this is by far my favorite (and my daughter's favorite). The amusing text is very fun to read aloud, and the fabulous graphics are a perfect complement. I especially love how the coyote's tummy gets bigger. Fun for all ages.
Fantabulous!

Move over, Dr. Seuss, because Jennifer Ward is about to share the spotlight with you when it come to children's literary classics. This delightful, must-read book spins a whimsical tale of a hapless coyote with a voracious appetite for things bigger than he can chew. Children (and adults) will love absurdity of it all, especially given the outstanding illustrations by Steven Gray which seem to jump out of every page. This is the perfect childrens's book: it captivates, stimulates, entertains, encourages creativity, and is just the right length for bedtime or anytime. Moreover, it gives the adult reader plenty of latitude for improvisation when reading it to an individual child or class. You'll love it!

Award-winning author Jennifer Ward presents There was a Coyote Who Swallowed a Flea, a whimsical children's picturebook offering an outrageous take on a common children's nursery rhyme. Following the exploits of a hungry coyote who sets out to gulp down everything in sight - and the perplexed appetizers socializing in his tummy - There was a Coyote Who Swallowed a Flea blends the vibrant, cartoony art of Steve Gray and singsong rhythm to create a rollicking funny tale. "He swallowed the cactus to go with the chile. / He swallowed the chile to season the bird. / He swallowed the bird to catch the snake. / He swallowed the snake to catch the lizard. / He swallowed the lizard to catch the flea, / Plucked from his knee, that tickly flea. / Yippe-o-ki-yee?"
