Not what I expected, but ...

I got this book in the hopes of learning more about the arcane art of "Kiai-jutsu" - using a powerful internal energy turned outward as a shout. Instead, it has proven useful to take on the road as a handy compendium of the Heian kata as well as more advanced forms such as Naichi (also known as Tekki or Chul-gi, depending on the style of budo). It is decent, sturdy (hardback) and a welcome addition to my library. It will not, however, teach you a hard, linear style in and of itself. As a complement to hands-on instruction, it is fine.
