Good starting point for learning about whales

This book has a little about each type of cetacean in Canadian waters, along with factual information that's known about that type. Each type gets its own section and there is an attempt to keep the coverage even. Clearly at this point, the work is dated, but I am glad I read it because by comparing the sections one sees what specialized creatures cetaceans are, and it gives a framework for understanding the many more specialized papers and reports on other cetaceans.
