Not your typical historical romance, but...

After the first few pages, I realized this book was not going to be a typical historical romance. Instead of focusing on two nobles and their play in high society, this novel's action took place almost entirely in the Chancery courts and the country. While I enjoyed this refreshing change of focus, I agree with the other reviewer who suggested that the emotional attachment between Madeline and Cole was a bit unbelievable; while Krahn did spend time developing their relationship, I don't think it was quite enough. Bottom line: while I enjoyed this book, I probably won't be rereading it.
