The Truth About Cousin Ernie's head is an above average children's book. Maybe I should define 'above average'. 'Above average' means that I enjoyed the book at least as much as my son did (he's 3). He sat still for the story (a major accomplishment where my son is concerned) and enjoyed the illustrations. I was very entertained by the story and thought the use of photographs and photo realistic rendering to represent the home movies in the story was very clever. It played very well off the main characters ,which are drawn in a very broad and cartooy style, and added a more depth to the art than most children's books manage. The story also worked on a couple different levels and provided an adult level view of how families work in a way that a kid can understand or at least follow.
