This is probably my favorite Alison McLeay book, although Passage Home and Sea Change are great. Well-researched, great story, and believable characters make this book an outstanding read for anyone who wants a little more substance to a novel. The meticulously accurate historical facts never weigh the story down. If you enjoyed Tracy Chevalier's "The Girl With the Pearl Earring" you probably will like this novel.
A superb read for anyone

As an avid reader, I can honestly say that this writer is of a genius that is unfortunatly rare. The book is not only brilliantly well balanced, but rich in imagry and content. Having read the other reviews for this book, I feel that it would not be for the reader seeking an uncomplicated read - but for those wanting a challenge it is a must. The person who gave this book one star and a mouthful of abuse should be ashamed, Alison McLeay is a brilliant author and everyone should own a copy of at least one of her books. READ HER BOOKS!

ALL OF ALISON MCLEAY'S BOOKS ARE DETAILED AND ARE RICH WITH HISTORICAL INFORMATION. PLEASE START WITH PASSAGE HOME, IT'S WONDERFULY CAPTIVATING.
