a classic work, gorgeous illustrations, very sweet and old fashioned

This is the story of the Hare the squirrel and the little grey Rabbit. The Rabbit is a very able, hardworking thing, who proves to be the hero of the moment when she saves the other animals from the weasel. It has great values in it - some very sweet jokes, lovely illustrations, and an old fashioned feel. Water is fetched from the stream at the back of the house, and fires are stirred with pokers. My children have had this story read to them dozens and dozens of times and almost have it off by heart now. Lots of adventures and excitement. If you get this, you should really also buy How little Grey Rabbit Got her Tail back, as they follow on from one another.
