The book Almost Sisters is a fictional book by Kathryn Makris. Kathryn Makris has written several books such as The Sisters War, and The Sisters Team. In this story Vanessa Shepherd is a very shy girl who has blond hair. Vanessa lives with her father because when she was 4 years old, her mother and father got divorced. Her father's name is Andy and her mother's name was Celeste. Vanessa has a best friend who's name is Ricki Romero. Ricki Romero is an athletic girl, she has bronze skin that hardly ever gets burned and she has a very big contagious smile. Ricki is just a nickname that one of her aunts made up, but her real name is Raquel Romero. Ricki only lives with her mother, who's name is Anita. She is a widow because Ricki's father died. Vanessa and Ricki are thinking of becoming sisters. Vanessa lives in a duplex apartment with her father. Both Vanessa and Ricki try to get their parents together so they could become sisters. They come up with a Sister Scheme plan for them to become a family. Since it was "Single Parents Day", they told their parents that they should go on a pinic to the beach, and there both of the parents talked . At last, it turns out that their parents argue about political issues, but then the biggest surprise is yet to come. I would recommend Almost Sisters because it is a very interesting and fun fictional book that shows you that kids who live with a single parent need both parents beside them. By:Sonia Bras

This book, and its sequel, "the sisters war" are both REALLY good! I like them because they are funny, have good characterization, and a really interesting plot. The only problem is that they're hard to find, since they've been out of print for so long.
