In the eighth book in the Adventures of the Northwoods, award-winning author Johnson continues to offer exitement, mystery, adventure, and important examples of a loving family and young people learning to rely on God. The Northwoods are off to the circus in River Falls, where Kate and Anders get parts in the show after one of the clowns is injured in a mysterious accident.
I read this book to my younger brother (who is 13) and my younger sister (who is 11). And, apart from having an interesting plot, I was really interested in reading how the author would manage the romantic feelings that Kate has for Eric and for M.R. Because, one is a Christian who believes as she does, and the other doesn't. I think that's such an important topic that seemed to grow as through the series as it went along. I was kind of excited reading it to my siblings because I want them to remember, someday, when they like someone, that it's more than what's on the outside that matters: it's what's inside that does.
