Why Are Baking Contestants Disappearing? Mysteries have a way of following Fannie Miller, so when she makes it into the finals of the Tuscarawas County Baking Contest and contestants start disappearing, she calls on her old friend Foster Bates, a retired cop and part-time private investigator. Could it be that other finalists are somehow responsible for these disappearances, thinning out the competition? Like the couple on verge of divorce who need the prize money, or the three Beiler sisters, always in a huddle whispering. One thing is for certain--Foster and Fannie will stay on the case until the end, and everyone involved will have learned something important about baking contests, solving mysteries, and life. New York Times Bestselling Author Wanda E. Brunstetter and Emmy-Nominated Author Martha Bolton have teamed up to deliver a delightful whodunit from Ohio's Amish country.

THE RISE AND FALL OF MISS FANNIE'S BISCUITS (A COZY AMISH MYSTERY)
by Wanda E. Brunstetter and Martha Bolton
Miss Fannie Miller is an Amish lady who lives in Sugarcreek, Ohio. She has a quilt shop, likes to bake, and loves a mystery.
Foster Bates is a retired policeman, who has opened his own private detective agency.
Fannie wants to enter a family recipe into a baking contest that is offering a $25,000 grand prize. Her Aunt Selma taught her how to cook and she plans to honor Aunt Selma by using her biscuit recipe.
The contestants in the contest start disappearing and Fannie who has always been intrigued by a mystery, jumps in to find out what's going on. She recruits her friend Foster Bates and together they look into the clues.
This is a delightful, original story. I am new to books by Martha Bolton, but the book has high standards of excellence, as do all of Wanda Brunstetter's books. I think Wanda's foray into writing mystery books works well.
I enjoyed the characters of Fannie, Foster, and Foster's dog Chief. As an animal lover, I can appreciate the love between a man and his dog.
Highly recommend.

Enjoyable & Fun Read

What a fun cozy mystery that had me grinning and left me feeling happy. I was intrigued with an Amish woman teaming with an English private investigator to solve a mystery. It even has hints of a simmering romance beneath the surface. I loved their interactions and how they each approached solving the mystery while trying to maintain their everyday jobs. There are numerous characters but I had no problem keeping them all straight. Some have quirky characteristics that makes them fun to get to know. It is an easy quick read but very enjoyable and leaves you wanting to read more about the characters and community. I especially enjoyed the Faith elements. I recommend this for a light fun read.
