This is a good and entertaining story set in Wilmington, Delaware. This murder mystery reminded me somewhat of movies of the same done in the 1940's. It had that kind of snappy air in dialogue and attitude. A retired detective comes back to town in a deal to let him shake off a false accusation. He is supposed to work one day and then leave his troubles behind him. Wouldn't you know it, that one day gets him embroiled...

The writing is sparse and taught. The bombshell Honey Golden is an inventive creation. The narrator is well-drawn, flawed, yet ultimately triumphant. A great read. I eagerly anticipate future offerings from Mr. Brandt
