In this "brilliant...deeply felt" (Stephen King) novel by the New York Times bestselling author of the Chet and Bernie mystery series, a deeply damaged female soldier home from the war in Afghanistan... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I thoroughly enjoy the Chet and Bernie series written by Spencer Quinn. This book was a big departure from his usual lighthearted writing. I’m still not sure how I felt about this story. War is hell and LeAnne has been there and back again. Badly hurt in Afghanistan, she not only has physical scars to heal but mental ones as well. She can’t even remember what happened to cause her injuries. Her journey back to good health is full of roadblocks and flashbacks of a traumatic past. I guess I was a little disappointed in the ending. The dog that adopts LeAnne turns out to be her best and most loyal friend. I would read it again and I may later on to see if I can appreciate it more. It was a good read but not one of the best from this author.
Excellent

This is a fictional story about LeAnne Hogan and how she begins to rebuild her life after being injured in Afghanistan. It is sad, moving, funny, but most of all thought provoking. I strongly recommend it.
