first read this in 1994. Inspired me to get a russian 35mm SLR since I was a poor student. Now I am an amateur DSLR addict. Got the book to read what inspired me in the first place and I can see why.. the book does not dwell too much on anything. short questions, short answers.. to the point. got a great deal too. 0.02$ cannot be beat :)
Photographic enlightenment

As a filmmaker who has read dozens of technical manuals on all aspects of working with light and capturing reality, I have found this handbook of still photography to be one of the simplest and the best I have ever come across. The book focuses on most aspects of still photography, for both amateurs and professionals. It is divided into nine chapters: Camera, Lenses, Film, Accessories, Lighting, Camera Technique, Style and Approach, Darkroom Techniques, and Special Problems. Each chapter is further divided into sub-divisions, so that almost all imaginable situations that could arise in and around a still camera are addressed. The book adheres to a very simple and satisfactory question-and-answer format, in which a perplexing question is asked by an imaginary reader and answered clearly and straightforwardly by the author. The book is full of pictures to illustrate his points and his clear and concise style makes it eminently readable. Its format is suited for a reference work or troubleshooting guide, but I have honestly enjoyed it more just as an inspiring book to have at my bedside. The answers Michael Busselle provides are very good, making professional-level techniques accessible to amateurs, but what is even better about the book is that perusing it will acquaint you with how to think like an efficient, professional, and creative photographer, which is much more valuable than mere technical information. The book cannot of course cover every single question that might be raised, but it is fairly comprehensive, and the tone is one that encourages experimentation on one's own. This is the type of book that will make you want to go out and shoot pictures (and give you the means to make them better, no matter what your level).Enjoy!
