Excerpt from The Parrish Family: Including the Allied Families of Belt, Boyd, Cole and Malone, Clokey, Garrett, Merryman, Parsons, Price, Tipton, With Special Reference to Mercelia Louise Boyd In 1911 the compiler of this work made a first attempt to gather some family records. After working about two years the magnitude of the undertaking became so apparent that the records collected were laid aside and not disturbed until 1931 when a new start was made. This has continued until the completion of this book. There is perhaps no more discouraging work than gathering family records. Fortunately there are usually some members of a family interested, otherwise the task would be an impossibility. With the aid of these members and an experienced genealogist, I am able to present this book. All incomplete records and inaccuracies are regrettable and they will creep in, though no time or expense has been spared in an attempt to avoid them.
