Billy White Hawk leaves his Idaho reservation in search of a better life in California, where instead he encounters hatred and hostility that are increasingly difficult to cope with. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book is about a young Native American who leaves the reservation to go to school in the city. He faces tremendous challenges in a world bent on his destruction. I enjoyed this book very much. I was glad that the book ended the way it did rather than on a negative note or on an unrealistic "dream-come-true" note.
