This is poetry that wakes you up, like poetry should, and makes you see and feel. Words often seem to be just the right ones. Images are quick, and they sting with their right-on-ness. Worley is a muscular writer. You feel with him there'll be no BS, no slack, no straining after poetic effect. This poetry is also quite accessible, as poetry goes, about living life, details of place, making a home, love and work. With poems like "On My Deathbed" and "Vasectomy" you can feel a raw ache, yearning -- poems that say here's how beauty can be felt and crafted in language. Worley is not especially well known as a poet, but this is strong stuff.
Wonderful use of language and putting the reader "there."

Worley's askew view is a delight. His images are strong and place the reader "in" the poem. Hope to read more of his work soon!
