My cardiologist suggested getting more soup in my diet. I already could make a couple of chicken broth and "stone soup" style serviceable efforts, but I wanted a better handle on what's in different named soups. I never cook by coloring within the lines so I can't really tell you if these recipes give you great soup "by the book." But this book gets used hard in my kitchen. Actually, I'm reminded that I quite enjoy the Grandfather's soup and my wife has made Irish Leek & Blue cheese a couple more times than she's told me of. Avgolemono too. The photography is beautiful and doesn't just show finished product. And many of the recipes have a little paragraph at the end entitled "Variations." So this is well more than an idea book. Beginning soup chefs are welcome and well rewarded.
