an Heroic man

For those who think of the Communist Party as some subversive organization working via intelligence for some foreign power, this book will come as a surprise. It tells the story of an heroic organizaton - The Communiost Party of Alabama and an Heroic Man. Both Hosea Hudson and the CPA fought for the most elementary civil rights long before Rosa Parks integrated a bus. It tells a part of American History that never gets taught in schools--of brave men mostly black--but some white (J.W. Davis) who struggled and often gave their lives for basic justice. It should be read along side "All God's Dangers" an oral narrative of an illiterate black sharecropper Ned Cobb--who has been called by many reviewers our Black "Homer". These two books alone may change the typical sentimrental view of American History. I urge eveyone no matter what their politics to read these two very great books.
