Franny is thrilled when she's accepted by the Allbright Academy, an elite private boarding school designed to train leaders. But she knows she's not as smart as the other kids there--or as beautiful, accomplished, confident, or mature. The fact is, the Allbright students--from their shining teeth and flawless complexions to their sky-high test scores and long lists of honors--are absolutely perfect. Then the Allbright magic begins to rub off on Franny, too. The question is: Is this a good thing? Can Franny and her friends Cal, Brooklyn, and Prescott un-ravel the Allbright Academy's secret, or will they, too, succumb to its eerie perfection?
Franny's sister Zoe is recruited into the prestigious Allbright School, along with her not so perfect siblings. After the first few weeks their behaviour seems to change. All the students are perfect, clean-cut and academically superior. The author skillfully uses suspense and comedy to tell this story. When a few Albright friends of Franny figure out the mystery of the academy, some lying and criminal activities need to take place. The story was well written and was exciting. I recommend this story for people who like mysteries, and range between eight and fourteen. ALL IN ALL, this book is better than other mystery books I have read recently. I would like to read more from this author.

What if you started at a school that was filled with perfectly gorgeous/handsome geniuses and you knew you weren't one of them except suddenly you were? And then just as suddenly one of your classmates figures it all out... And you've got to decide whether you want to end the dream and face the not so gorgeous facts! This is what happens to Franny and her friends at the Allbright Academy where--yes-- all are very bright or at least they seem to be. I was hooked right from the start by the friendly, interesting writing, likeable, believable characters and intriguing plot. As a children's librarian I am obliged to look through many of the new books. This one I could not put down. It is a real winner suited for children ages 9 to 13 or so.
