Simon Barnes really touches on something very unique here. This book is humourous and wise simultaneously, shedding light on why society puts so much meaning onto sport. He shows paradoxically how ridiculous and important it is. This book is more about 'sport' as a concept and less about 'sports' the games, although their are plenty of examples of pinnacle moments from the games we love. I found the sections on metaphors intersting, along with the list and all the dichotomies. There are about 150 untilted chapters so navigating back to interesting parts is difficult, otherwise the book makes you smile and daydream throughout, so long as you like sports in any way, shape or form.
